Management of lists of users, self-subscription to mailing-lists, bulk sending of e-mail, e-mail templates. Public lists where all users can post are out of scope: this is one to many.
@jérôme I'm in the middle of breaking the module up into smaller ones. The original module became quite a monolith so there's a lot of refactoring to be done before I can share it as planned.
But I'll keep you updated!

Xceno is your module available right now?
Xceno Malloy commented
Yes I thought about this already.
We're now completely done with it and I will spend some time now to decouple it from our main module. Oh and we want to experiment with the job queue.
But yeah, I will definitely do a demo for it soon! :)
Sounds very nice. How about making a demo at the Tuesday meeting?

We're actually nearly done with such a module.
Then fun thing is, that you can create dynamic list of mailrecipients by creating standard orchard queries and assign them as a source to a maillinglist. On top you're able to micromanage a maillinglist by explicitly ex-/including recepients.
We're currently using it inside a big project, but I could imagine to make a standalone module out of it.
It's not utopic, we have evidence in the form of complex modules having been created by the community. The core team has to focus on the core, infrastructure, and modules that are going to be used by close to 100% of sites.

For our community we are currently using Orchard and 6 developers refused to create a newsletter plugin due to the complexity of Orchard architecture.
They currently started a new asp.net project from scratch because of the lower complexity.
- it's utopic believing that community will create all the essential extensions
- complexity in our case is the very first killer reason for the entire project
I hope this comment will be of help for future decisions
The infrastructure for this is in place. There's nothing that should stop someone from building it and submitting it to the gallery.
Newsletter is essential module.
please include it. or create plan so we can contribute in int.
When somebody builds it. Also, you might want to try this: http://gallery.orchardproject.net/List/Modules/Orchard.Module.NogginBox.MailChimp
So when we will have it on orchard? :)
please please please....
Yes please. Is very important for a modern CMS

I don't know this CMS, the newsletter is useful to remember me this software to use when I need it.
